Deputy of Mechanical Engineering Faculty at K. N. Toosi University Calls for “Rising Against Sophicide”

Dr. Naser Naseri-Far, Deputy of Education at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology (KNTU), expressed serious concern about the phenomenon of the “elimination of scientific elites” by powers that have historically maintained a “guise of democracy and support for science.” He called on all professors, elites, and researchers to take a practical stance and actively participate in the International Conference for “Rising of the Wise against Sophicide.”
Referring to recent events, Dr. Naseri-Far stated: “Unfortunately, in the recent conflict, you witnessed this sinister phenomenon occur where elites and scientists… were eliminated very violently while they were with their families. This elimination will not be confined to our country alone, and this ominous phenomenon is gradually engulfing the entire world.”
The Deputy of Education at KNTU’s Mechanical Engineering Faculty cited the past experiences of elite assassinations in countries like Iraq and Syria, stressing that there is no guarantee this trend will remain restricted to specific countries or fields of science. This is because the practice is being pursued by “individuals who until now wore the mask of being science-lovers and have now cast it aside.”
He declared that this situation requires a “global orientation” and appealed to everyone who respects the sanctity of science, thought, and wisdom to take a serious stand against this alarming development.
Dr. Naseri-Far concluded by emphasizing that taking a stand must not be limited to “words and discourse” but must be demonstrated practically through presence at conferences and gatherings, specifically the “Sophicide” conference, to condemn this ominous phenomenon. He urged: “I invite all dear ones, all professors, all researchers, everyone who values the domain of science, thought, and wisdom to join the Rising Against Sophicide conference and, by utilizing the abilities and talents at their disposal, condemn this sinister phenomenon of sophicide.”
