Former Sharif University President Calls for “Rising Against Sophicide” Conference/Rasoul Jalili: Assassination of Scientists is the Pinnacle of Backwardness and a Sign of Weakness in the Zionist Regime and the US

Dr. Rasoul Jalili, former President of Sharif University of Technology, condemned the assassination of commanders and scientists of the Islamic Republic during the recent “12-day war” by the Zionist regime. He labeled these acts the height of baseness and ignorance, urging the country’s scientific community to join the discourse of the International Conference for “Rising of the Wise against Sophicide.”

Dr. Jalili stressed the historically rare nature of these actions, stating: “This is the utmost baseness, the utmost ignorance, and the ultimate backwardness that we should fight knowledge, and our fight against the knowledge of a community, a nation, and a country should be physical assassination.”

The former Sharif University President identified the goal of assassinating scientists as “preventing the development of science internationally,” hindering a country’s access to scientific peaks, blocking the fulfillment of its scientific and technological needs, and ultimately obstructing a nation’s independence. He called these actions a “sign of ultimate powerlessness, fragility, and weakness.”

He warned that the US government and the Zionist regime falsely believe they can destroy a nation’s knowledge through physical elimination, but he stressed: “Definitely, this action will lead to their own decay and ultimate annihilation.”

Dr. Jalili views the upcoming conference as an opportunity to create a global “discourse” aimed at condemning sophicide and preventing the continuation of such acts in the future. While commending the organizers, he requested all university professors, researchers, and scientists to join this discourse:

“I request professors, researchers, and scientists of the country to join this discourse, either through physical attendance at the conference or virtual presence, or by any other means, to join this movement, which God willing, will continue.”

The International Conference for “Rising of the Wise against Sophicide” will be held on October 9th (17th of Mehr) at the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM) (School of Theoretical Physics and Mathematics).
