Head of University of Tehran’s Faculty of Literature and Humanities Invites Scholars to “Rising of the Wise Against Sophicide” Conference
Dr. Abdolreza Seif: Eliminating Thought is a Vain Illusion; Nations That Live by Thought Endure
Dr. Abdolreza Seif, Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Human Sciences at the University of Tehran, emphasized the profound role of wisdom and thought in Iranian and Islamic culture, calling on all scientists and thinkers to attend the International Conference for “Rising of the Wise against Sophicide.”
Referencing the foundations of Iranian culture, particularly the Shahnameh of Ferdowsi, which he described as the “human and Iranian book of wisdom,” Dr. Seif stated that thought and intellect are the most enduring aspects of humanity: “If we intend to eliminate a person or an idea, it will never happen; people may be killed, but the thought and idea remain.”
He called the current assassination of scientists the “ultimate act of cowardice and powerlessness” and dismissed these actions as a futile effort. The Dean asserted: “The scientist remains, because the thought endures. This enduring thought grows and advances everywhere. If someone attempts to fight thought, they will only destroy themselves.”
Dr. Seif continued: “A nation that is alive with thought always endures, but a nation that is hostile to thought and intellect is in decline.” He characterized the actions of the Zionists and “global cowards” seeking to kill thought and ideas as a “vain plan and scheme” that will ultimately fail.
In conclusion, noting that in the land of Iran, thought is the basis and axis, and that Islam has also invited and honored thought, he called on all eminent figures to step forward and participate in the conference to commemorate science, knowledge, and thought, ensuring that the status of the scholar and scientist remains perpetually elevated.
