TEHRAN – The international conference “Scholars Rise Against Sophicide,” aimed at combating the alarming phenomenon of assassinating scientists, will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tehran time (5:30 AM to 9:30 AM UTC). The event, chaired by Dr. Mohammad-Javad Larijani, former secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, will take place at Tehran’s Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences and feature prominent scientists from various countries.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Dr. Larijani described the assassination of scientists as a dangerous policy to hinder nations’ scientific progress. He accused the United States and the Zionist regime of orchestrating such attacks to prevent countries from achieving scientific empowerment. “Today’s assassinations are not about personal beliefs but about depriving nations of access to knowledge,” he stated.
