About Their Life and Scientific Mission
Dr. Ahmadreza Zolfaghari Dariani is known as one of the prominent nuclear scientists and professors of Shahid Beheshti University. He has played a pivotal role in advancing national and strategic projects related to the development of Iranian nuclear technology and efforts to localize technical knowledge, which has given special importance to his activities. His active participation in specialized committees related to the nuclear industry has made him one of the key figures in this field. Dr. Ahmadreza Zolfaghari Dariani was born in Tehran on December 25, 1955. He holds a PhD in Nuclear Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, England. This advanced expertise from one of the world’s most prestigious universities formed the foundation of his scientific and research activities in the field of nuclear science and prepared him for key roles in the future. Dr. Zolfaghari Dariani was hired by Shahid Beheshti University on October 1, 1999. He worked as a professor and associate professor in the Faculty of Nuclear Engineering of this university and played a role in educating and training a new generation of nuclear specialists. He previously served as the dean of the Faculty of Nuclear Engineering of Shahid Beheshti University. This managerial role reflects his leadership and organizational abilities in addition to his scientific expertise. From December 1400 until his martyrdom, he worked as the deputy director of support, finance, and resource management at Shahid Beheshti University. He was known as one of the university's most skilled and experienced managers and had a history of holding this position in previous periods, which indicates his trust and efficiency in this position. Dr. Zolfaghari was actively involved in national and strategic projects related to the development of Iran's nuclear technology. These activities were also extensive in the operational sectors of the nuclear industry. His efforts to localize technical knowledge and his effective presence in specialized committees related to the nuclear industry are considered to be other valuable services. This localization included the transfer and development of complex nuclear technologies within the country. Dr. Ahmadreza Zolfaghari Dariani made a significant contribution to the advancement of nuclear engineering science by conducting numerous researches and publishing scientific articles. Some of the titles of his articles in scientific databases indicate the breadth of his research in various fields of nuclear engineering: Optimization of Kerman Combined Cycle Power Plant Connection to Desalination Unit Using Artificial Neural Network and Gravity Search Algorithm (2020) Design and construction of an electron collision ion source control system for a mass spectrometer (2023) Numerical analysis of the thermomechanical behavior of UO2 fuel rods in steady state using the finite element method (2021) Gamma radiation protection using heavy concrete containing lead slag (2015) Solving the neutron diffusion equation using a mesh-free method based on Wendland radial basis functions in 2D Cartesian coordinates (2013) Determining unknown atmospheric scattering source parameters using AERMOD software and Bayesian inference with Markov chain Monte Carlo (2012) Testimony Dr. Ahmadreza Zolfaghari Dariani was martyred on June 13, 1404, in the Zionist regime's terrorist attacks in Tehran, along with other Iranian nuclear scientists, including Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi and Dr. Fereydoun Abbasi.
