About Their Life and Scientific Mission
Martyr Abdulhamid Minouchehr, Iranian physicist and nuclear engineer, professor at Shahid Beheshti University and dean of the university's nuclear engineering department, who was martyred in the Israeli attacks on Iran in June 1404. Birth and education Abdolhamid Minouchehr was born in Tehran in 1962. He continued his higher education in nuclear engineering and went to Moscow to study for a doctorate. According to published reports, he received his doctorate from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI), a university specializing in nuclear physics and engineering. Academic activities and responsibilities After completing his studies, Minouchehr returned to Iran and became a faculty member at Shahid Beheshti University. A significant part of his professional activity was dedicated to teaching nuclear engineering and developing research related to nuclear technology. He assumed the presidency of the Faculty of Nuclear Engineering at Shahid Beheshti University in 1401. He was also the editor of the specialized journal "Nuclear Technology and Energy" and worked in the field of education and training of specialized students in this field. Areas of expertise and research achievements Minouchehr's main expertise was in the field of reactor physics, nuclear simulation, and advanced nuclear fuel design. His research covered topics such as fuel behavior analysis in reactors, nuclear power plant safety, neutron transport, and numerical modeling of nuclear systems. According to the ScienceDirect scientific profile, he has numerous publications in international scientific journals. These records show that his research activity was not limited to academic management, and he also participated in specialized research in nuclear engineering. Among the research topics related to his name are the following: - Simulation and analysis of nuclear fuel performance. - Investigating the behavior of neutrons in the reactor core. - Numerical modeling of thermal and mechanical behavior of fuel rods. - Studying reactor safety and increasing the efficiency of nuclear power plants. - Investigating some isotope separation processes and the performance of nuclear systems. Activity in scientific journals Minouchehr was the editor of the journal "Nuclear Technology and Energy," a prestigious publication of Shahid Beheshti University that covered specialized articles in the field of nuclear energy and technology. This responsibility was part of his role in developing the scientific environment and publishing specialized research in Iran. Views on Iran's nuclear program In an interview with the magazine "Persman" in 2003, Minouchehr spoke about the differences between Iran and Western countries over nuclear activities. He believed that the differences were not only related to the extent of Iran's nuclear activities, but also that limiting and preventing the development of this technology played a role in the approach of Western countries. This view was taken into account in the republishing of that interview by the Tasnim news agency in July 2005. Testimony Abdulhamid Minouchehr was martyred on June 13, 2025, during the Israeli attacks on Tehran. Published reports indicate that his wife, Maryam Hajjari Doabsari, was also martyred in the attack. In addition to the human consequences, his death was the loss of one of the university administrators and active researchers in the field of nuclear engineering in Iran, a field in which the training of specialized personnel and the continuation of scientific research are of great importance.
