About Their Life and Scientific Mission
The late Iranian leader, Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, was martyred in Israeli and American airstrikes and at his workplace. During his 37 years of leadership, the late Iranian leader shaped the macro policies of the country and the system. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, one of the prominent and influential figures in the contemporary history of the country and the Islamic Republic, was born on July 15, 1939, in the city of Mashhad. He grew up in a religious and spiritual but poor family; his father, Ayatollah Seyyed Javad Khamenei, was a well-known cleric in Khorasan and played an important role in the religious education of his children. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution began studying religious sciences from a young age and after completing elementary school, he joined the Mashhad Seminary. Since he was interested in studying and understanding religion in depth, he soon went to Qom and was educated and trained by great figures such as Ayatollah Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Talebzadeh. With the lessons he learned from these professors and also from the professors of the Mashhad Seminary, he made a significant contribution to understanding and interpreting the foundations of jurisprudence and the principles of religion. Beginning of political activities Ayatollah Khamenei joined the political struggle against the Pahlavi regime in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He became known as a prominent figure among religious youth due to his education and connections with other clerics. He was arrested and imprisoned several times during his political career. During his time in prison, the revolutionary leader deepened his political and social ideas and strengthened his belief in the Islamic Revolution. Also, in late 1977, after arresting the revolutionary leader, SAVAK forces exiled him to Iranshahr for 3 years. He was later exiled to Jiroft and after a while, returned to Mashhad. Islamic Revolution and its role in the establishment of the Islamic Republic With the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Seyyed Ali Khamenei was introduced as one of the key figures in the formation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. A key member of the Islamic Republic Party, he was quickly appointed to various political positions. Membership in the Revolutionary Council, representation in the Parliament, Friday prayer leader in Tehran, representation of the leadership in the Supreme Defense Council, membership in the Islamic Republic Party, and... are some of his most important activities after the revolution and before the presidency. Ayatollah Khamenei was assassinated by a group of MKO members on July 26, 1988, while giving a speech at the Abu Dhar Mosque. At the time, he was a member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Friday prayer leader in Tehran. The assassination attempt on Ayatollah Khamenei occurred about a week after the Assembly dismissed Abolhassan Banisadr from the presidency. A day later, an explosion at the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Party in Tehran killed a large number of party members, including Seyyed Mohammad Beheshti. Presidency After the assassination of Mohammad Ali Rajai, the second President of Iran, the Central Council of the Islamic Republic Party and the Qom Seminary Teachers' Association unanimously selected Ayatollah Khamenei as their presidential candidate. The elections were held on October 1, 1988, and Ayatollah Khamenei was elected as the third President of Iran with a majority of votes (95.11%). On October 7, 1988, Imam Khomeini ratified his presidential decree, and he was sworn in as President in the Islamic Consultative Assembly on October 11. President Ayatollah Khamenei had a difficult start. Because at that time, the country was in a critical situation and he had to make difficult decisions. The war with the Baath regime on the one hand and the rebellion and assassinations of the Hypocrites on the other had made the situation in the country difficult. However, Ayatollah Khamenei was able to stabilize the country's situation within a few years with the help of the Imam (may Allah have mercy on him) and the people and neutralize the crises one after another. Selection as leader After the death of Imam Khomeini (RA) in 1989, Seyyed Ali Khamenei was appointed as the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Assembly of Experts. He faced numerous challenges at the beginning of his leadership. Among the issues he faced were the remaining issues from the imposed war and the economic problems after the official end of the war. The late Iranian leader was tasked with leading Iran into a period of post-war reconstruction and reform, and he faced many difficulties along the way. During the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei, many changes took place in the domestic and foreign policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran. As a religious leader, Ayatollah Khamenei played his role in preserving and strengthening the principles of political Islam and reducing tensions in the region and the world. He strongly believed in national independence and dignity and always emphasized the need to confront the influence of the West, especially the United States, in Iran and the Muslim world. Political views and theories Ayatollah Khamenei believed that the only way to achieve development and progress was to rely on domestic capacities and self-sufficiency. In his speeches, he repeatedly referred to attracting domestic investment and self-sufficiency in the production of food, industrial, and technological products, considering this issue to be one of the pillars of the country's progress. He also attached special importance to the issue of culture and emphasized the need to preserve Islamic and Iranian values. The late leader of the revolution always advised the country's youth to work towards the country's growth and prosperity and asked them to adhere to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
