Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi (1965–2005) was a nuclear scientist, member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, and president of the Islamic Azad University, who held this position from 2018 until his martyrdom. He was martyred along with his wife on June 13, 1925, in an Israeli airstrike on his home. Tehranchi graduated from Shahid Beheshti University with a degree in physics and was a full professor at the same university. Introduction and position Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi was a nuclear scientist, a member of the Board of Trustees, and the president of the Islamic Azad University of Iran.[1] He was also known as the honorary custodian of the shrine of Imam Reza (AS).[2] Tehranchi was a full professor at Shahid Beheshti University of Iran[3] and a graduate of the same university in the field of physics. He completed his PhD in solid-state physics in 1997.[4] Tehranchi was martyred along with his wife[5] on June 23, 1404, in the Israeli attack on Iran[6] and was buried in the shrine of Abdul Azim Hassani on July 27 after the funeral.[7] Among Tehranchi's responsibilities and honors are the following: President of Shahid Beheshti University from 2012 to 2016; Vice President for Research and Technology, Shahid Beheshti University; Superintendent and President of Islamic Azad University from 1397 to 1404 by order of Ayatollah Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution; Holder of the first-class scientific award.[8] Publications and research projects Among the most important managerial initiatives of Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi is the monitoring plan that was implemented at Islamic Azad University with the aim of harmonizing academic research with the country's strategic needs. Another of his initiatives was the establishment of an innovation ecosystem at this university to strengthen the connection between industry, research, and the commercialization of ideas.[9]
